Breaking In (BLU-RAY)
From Bill Forsyth, the acclaimed director of Gregory’s Girl, Local Hero, Comfort and Joy and Housekeeping, comes this offbeat comedy starring screen legend Burt Reynolds as a thief with a heart of gold. Veteran safecracker Ernie (Reynolds, White Lightning) and his smart-alec apprentice Mike (Casey Siemaszko, Young Guns) are the unlikeliest pair of robbers since Butch Cassidy met The Sundance Kid. Ernie teaches Mike the tools of the trade—from crowbars to nitroglycerine—and together they tackle a series of wacky, yet profitable break-ins. Ernie knows there’s more to being a successful thief than just thieving, there’s investing what you’ve “earned” and keeping a low profile. Yet there are some things Ernie can’t teach Mike, as he discovers when Mike falls in love with a money-hungry woman and goes on a spending spree. But, Mike soon realizes, there are some lessons which only taking time—and doing time—will teach you. Written by indie icon John Sayles (Lone Star), Breaking In is the hilarious and heartfelt buddy-comedy caper that has Reynolds in top, charming form!
