Diamond, delivers them all in a soufflé-light homage to his filmmaking idol Ernest Lubitsch, punctuating it by casting Lubitsch alumnus Maurice Chevalier, the cinema's ambassador of Gaelic charm who smoothly plays Ariane's detective father.
