In late summer 1973, Michael Skid (Jonathan Scarfe: Slap Shot 2: Breaking the Ice), the son of a wealthy judge, returns from his world travels. He rents a dilapidated farm and begins to spread the gospel of communal idea Is which he has absorbed during his time abroad.

These ideas go over well with the impoverished siblings Madonna (Joanne Kelly) and Silver Brassaurd (Christopher Jacot: Get Over It) who like Michael and are impressed by him. They go over less well with Tom Donnerel Zachary Bennett: Desire, TV's "Road to Avonlea"), a young farmer who maintains that Michael's ideas are nothing new among working people and ridicules his privileged upbringing.

Embarrassed and seeking acceptance, Michael befriends ex-convict Everette Haich Peter Outerbridge: Men With Brooms, Mission to Mars, Kissed). Resognizing opportunity in Michael's ideas, Everette sets out a plan for communal sharing which leads to a drug deal and sparks a catastrophic chain of events in the community.
