In this delicious special, James Beard Award-winning chefs Ming Tsai and Rick Bayless come together to share stories (some of which have never been shared before), cook up recipes on their "Gotta have it" list, and dish on the inspiration that brought them into the world of cooking, and ultimately led them to become the icons they are today. While they may seem worlds apart, Tsai, the face of East-West cooking, and Bayless, the man credited with making authentic Mexican cuisine accessible to American audiences, still share much in common—including that both have cooking memories rooted in Ohio. Ming's family had a take-out restaurant in Dayton, and Rick began his professional chef career as the executive chef at Lopez y Gonzalez in Cleveland Heights. Ming's son, Henry Tsai, also joins in the festivities, as they share childhood recipes they are still eating to this day. The trio also takes a field trip to Chicago's Lao Peng You, run by brothers Daniel and Eric Wat. Ming, Rick, and Henry sample and then make the local fan favorite – dumplings. Finally, Ming and Rick pay an after-hours visit to Rick's landmark restaurant, Frontera Grill, where they mix cocktails and share legendary stories.
